Superb Shefford see out Dunstable in convincing win - Dunstable Town 0-2 Shefford Town & Campton

A massive match for Shefford Town & Campton as they made the short journey to Creasey Park for the First Round Qualifying of the Emirates FA Cup. Both teams had started the season well but both really wanted a win in this match.

Dunstable Town started well and had a decent opening chance. The forward got past the defender and delivered a good ball across the box but this was cleared by the Shefford defender.

Dunstable had a golden opportunity to take the lead when the ball was cut back from the left wing and a powerful shot was heading goal bound. The goalkeeper saved well.

Shefford settled into the game and had a good chance. Sam King ran in from the left wing and unleashed a powerful shot but it was tipped over the bar by the Dunstable goalkeeper.

Shefford then took the lead shortly afterwards. A corner was cleared and the ball found its way to Sam King. He crossed it in and Henry Snee got in front of his man and headed past the goalkeeper to put Shefford ahead.

Another few great from the goalkeeper saves kept Dunstable Town out and Shefford led 0-1 at half time.

It was the home side who had a superb chance early in the second half. A corner was crossed in and flicked on to the back post. The Dunstable player headed it onto the crossbar and it went out for a Shefford goal kick.

It wasn’t long until Shefford had scored a second. Scott Metcalfe received the ball just in front of the half way line and he ran and ran through the Dunstable defence before taking a shot from outside the box firing it low and hard past the goalkeeper. A brilliant goal to double the Shefford advantage.

This goal seemed to hurt Dunstable as they found it hard after that goal. There weren’t many clear-cut chances after this goal. Shefford saw the game out and won 0-2.

A huge win for Shefford Town & Campton as they advance to the Second Round Qualifying. Shefford will play Grays Athletic away in the next round of the Emirates FA Cup.
