Solihull steam past Eastleigh in an 8-goal thriller - Solihull Moors 5-3 Eastleigh

A big game for both sides but Solihull Moors in particular as they need to keep pushing for play-offs. Solihull Moors have had a few games without a win but have still been picking up points because they have been drawing most. Eastleigh haven't really got much to play for but have recently lost 4-0 to Altrincham.

The game started and Solihull were the dominant source. They soon had a goal to show for their efforts. Joe Sbarra scored after a good ball fell to Andrew Dallas who laid it off to Joe Sbarra who finished nicely. It only took around 6 minutes for Solihull go 2-0 up. Callum Howe made it 2-0 after a great corner fell to Callum Howe who headed in from very far out and it dipped into the top corner. Solihull continued playing with confidence and really looked like another one was coming. One did come on the 40-minute mark when Joe Sbarra scored his second of the day after his effort rebounded back to him and he grabbed Solihull's third. Eastleigh did get one back before half time. Experienced Brett Pitman scored the goal as he received it in the box and calmly converted. Solihull went in at half time 3-1 up. A brilliant response to the second half by Eastleigh as they had the momentum building. Jake Hesketh put Eastleigh within one goal of Solihull after his strike found the back of the net thanks to a nice assist from Brett Pitman. Eastleigh now had the momentum in full swing and looked capable of levelling things up. Solihull didn't give up here as they kept pushing too. The next goal was always going to be crucial and indeed it was. In the 79th minute Solihull extended their lead back to a 2 goal cushion. Joe Sbarra bagged his hat-trick after another assist from Ryan Barnett who'slow cross found Joe Sbarra scoring his third of the afternoon. It was an instant response from Eastleigh who immediately pulled one back thanks Danny Whitehall who finished well firing past the goalkeeper. Eastleigh had to have one last go throughout injury time but Solihull held out strong. Solihull sealed the game off thanks to substitute Danny Newton who was picked out by Ryan Barnett and he finished well. Solihull ran out 5-3 winners.

Solihull go into 5th in the National League table with a vital win in their push for play-offs. It was also Joe Sbarra's first career hat-trick! Eastleigh slip into 18th and look like they will avoid the drop but not achieve much more.
