Another big game this weekend as Shefford Town & Campton face off against Long Crendon in Bedfordshire. Shefford will need to show that they are fit for play-offs and need to win this game in order to get closer to that goal. Long Crendon are in a fairly similar boat but have been slipping down the table lately.
Based of off form lately Shefford are definitely the favourites despite coming off the back of a 3-1 away defeat to Rushden & Higham. Long Crendon's form lately has been very poor but in fairness they have had very difficult games. Ever since their 4-1 win over Burton Park Wanderers they have lost 4-1 to Bedford FC away, drew 1-1 with Winslow United, lost 2-0 to Kidlington Reserves, lost 2-3 to Ampthill Town and 2-5 against Letchworth Garden City Eagles. They have shown they can score but their defence has been leaky as they have kept 1 clean sheet in the new year. Shefford have been improving a lot but have been struck very hard by illness, injury and suspension. The top scorer in the league - Jonny McNamara - has been suspended for two games since their 3-1 win over Northampton Sileby Rangers. He will be back for this one and will be as ready as ever. Kane O'Neil is injured and so is star striker Henry Snee. They will be looking to bounce back from their loss on Tuesday to Rushden & Higham. Shefford sit 4th at the moment and could slip out fairly quickly if they drop off in form. Long Crendon look almost out of the race for the play-offs as they are 8 points of off 5th placed Wellingborough Whitworth. Both teams are well up for it and rearing to go!
The size of this game for both sides is big. Shefford look like as if they win they are one big step closer to the play-offs. If Long Crendon lose they will feel like their play-off bid is finished and will have to settle for a mid-table finish.
