Ollie Tanner is our player focus for this week and the Lewes winger has a massive potential and he could be fit for the Premier League. He has had a fantastic season for Lewes and the 19-year-old has scored 11 goals so far this season and has been a big influence on Lewes' season. He was in the thoughts of lots of top quality Premier League teams waiting for January.
January came and Lewes agreed a deal with Tottenham Hotspur and the deal was said to be around £100,000. The move was going to happen and they got to the personal terms stage and it was going great. Ollie Tanner than dramatically backed out of the move due to not agreeing on these terms. He's been praised for this decision as it was an opportunity of a life time and he turned it down and decided to stay put with Lewes. Lewes have said they will take care of him for the season until the inevitable big club comes in and cashes in on him. This statement gives off the impression he is happy at the moment and that he has no current intention of joining another side until the end of the season. Interestingly, the Lewes manager has insisted that the Premier League scouts watching has affected his game and that he partly didn't sign for Tottenham due to the online abuse he suffered.
Now the question is will he stay come the summer or will he go? He has got lots of options and in January he decided Lewes was the correct option. I think he will go to a football league side and not a Premier League side. This is not going to be the last time you hear the name Ollie Tanner.
