Moors dismantle sorry Chesterfield - Chesterfield 2-3 Solihull Moors
Massive game in the National League as title chasing Chesterfield face play-off pushing Solihull Moors. Chesterfield were unbeaten at the Technique Stadium going into the game and are without star striker Kabongo Tshimanga for the first time this season. Solihull Moors had been on great form and also have had great away form.
It was a cagey start to the game with neither side having too many great chances. Chesterfield then took an unexpected lead thanks to a big goal from Alex Whittle who converted comfortably after great work from Akwasi Asante. It was shortly two for the home team after Akwasi Asante doubled their lead after 20 minutes. Liam Mandeville's shot was parried out to Akwasi Asante who calmly finished a massive goal for Chesterfield. A minute later Chesterfield were down to 10 after Curtis Weston was sent off for head-butting a Solihull player. This swung the mood of the game as Solihulll Moors started attack much more. Solihull pulled one back before half time after Jack Aidan Clarke got on the end of a great cross to get Solihull back into it. Just 5 minutes into the second half Solihull were level after Callum Maycock calmly slotted the ball in to the Chesterfield net to draw level. Only a few minutes later Solihull took the lead! The game had been absolutely turned on it's head. Harry Boyes scored the goal, an indirect free kick was given and it was laid off to Boyes who put it in the bottom corner.
Big win for Solihull Moors who are really going strong at the minute trying to confirm a play-off place. But a big defeat for Chesterfield who are now 6 points adrift of Stockport in 1st and 3 ahead of Boreham Wood who have 3 games in hand over them.
