Hawks batter Ebbsfleet in 6-goal thriller - Havant & Waterlooville 4-2 Ebbsfleet United

Havant & Waterlooville had been on a horrid run of form not winning since the start of December. Ebbsfleet had been in ok form, sitting in 5th place inside the play-offs. Havant & Waterlooville sat in 15th spot. Ebbsfleet were going in expecting a win, this turned out to be a fatal mistake.

The game began and the Hawks got a penalty within the first 5 minutes for a foul on Sam Smart. Stefan Payne took and scored comfortably slotting past the goalkeeper. This lead didn't last long as Craig Tanner scored an absolute thunderbolt for Ebbsfleet who pelted it into the top right corner flying past the goalkeeper. Ebbsfleet had one cleared off the line before half time and the two sides went in level at 1-1. Manny Duku took manners into his own hands in the second half after dispossessing the Ebbsfleet defence and coolly finishing past Louie Moulden with his first goal for the club. The Hawks made it 3-1 getting a comfortable 2 goal lead over Ebbsfleet after a free kick by Billy Clifford was finished off by Joe Oastler who got the rebound in. It was 4-1 pretty much instantly when Billy Clifford went for one on his own hitting home from 25 yards into the top corner to settle any nerves they had of not winning. The Fleet did pull one back after Adam Nekki provided for Shaq Coulthirst who slotted it in from inside the box. It finished 4-2 to Havant & Waterlooville.

Havant moved up to 13th with Chelmsford and Concord Rangers losing and a brilliant win against play-off contenders Ebbsfleet. Ebbsfleet got lucky with results as they went their way but they stay in 5th but are now in danger of sliding out of the play-offs.
