Goodship goal sinks Eastleigh in massive win for Weymouth - Weymouth 1-0 Eastleigh

Weymouth started the game in the bottom three and 9 points adrift of safety. Things are looking bleak down in Weymouth as relegation is calling. They have recently picked up a point at home to Chesterfield in the last minute. Eastleigh are in horrific form and have dipped into 14th. Big game for Weymouth as a big 3 points was up for grabs.

It was a cagey game and that was understandable with the stakes going into it. There were no major chances in the first half and it finished 0-0 after 45 minutes. Eastleigh started to go for it in the second half but a goal never quite came. Weymouth defended well and attacked well too. A

massive goal then came in the 71st minute for Weymouth and it was Brandon Goodship who fired the Terras ahead. Josh McQuoid laid it off to Goodship who beat the keeper with a neat strike. Weymouth then defended for the remainder of the game going on a few meaningful counter attacks. They defended excellently and got a massive 3 points in their bid for survival!

This now leaves Weymouth 6 points from Maidenhead United and 9 from Barnet. Relegation is still a big possibility but after this win survival is that one step closer. Eastleigh have been free-falling since their last game against Weymouth which was a 3-2 win and now they are only 6 points ahead of 20th placed Maidnehead.
