All of Maidenhead's wins this season have come against the top 6 except two and Maidenhead were looking to keep this great run up. They have had great form at York Road this season winning 6 at home. Boreham Wood were unbeaten going into the game since October in the league and were hoping for this to continue. Maidenhead were 20th prior to the game and Boreham Wood 3rd.
Maidenhead had a bright start to the game and the fans were getting well behind them. Some chances came and went for both teams and neither converted despite Boreham Wood hitting the post. A goal came and it was Josh Kelly who scored a deserved goal for the Magpies after he cut inside of the Wood defence and bent it in for 1-0. Half time came and it remained 1-0 and Maidenhead looked destined for another big win at York Road. Lots of chances and Subs in the second half and it was getting a bit shaky for Maidenhead as they went for an equaliser. Nathan Blissett finished the game for Maidenhead in the 84th minute when he volleyed in a fantastic goal surely sealing the 3 points for the Magpies and Boreham Wood's first loss since the 23rd of October. The game finished 2-0 and Maidenhead continue their giant killing and Boreham Wood lose a crucial game in the title race.
Maidenhead pulled away from Weymouth and are now 9 clear having played 2 less. Survival is looking more and more realistic as the season goes on. Boreham Wood needed to win today to take advantage of Chesterfield and Stockport but it wasn't to be. A good day in the office for Stockport after Chesterfield and Boreham Wood both lost. They now need to win their games in hand to have a shot of the title.
