Gateshead grind out yet another win on promotion hunt - Gateshead 2-1 Spennymoor Town

Gateshead leading National League North faced 15th placed Spennymoor Town at the Gateshead International Stadium. Gateshead have been brilliant at home this season winning 10/12 so far thi season. Spennymoor have had a slight dip in form as of late seeing them drop to 15th in the process.

Gateshead started well but no major chances came. One did in the 15th minute but for Spennymoor Town when they won a penalty after the Gateshead goalkeeper hacked down the forward. A penalty was taken and converted by Glen Taylor to give Spennymoor the lead. Spennymoor hadn't shown much at all at the start but led in the 15th minute. Gateshead levelled deservedly when Adam Campbell cut it back to joint top scorer in the league Macauley Langstaff who finished calmly for his 17th of the season. It was 1-1 at half time with Gateshead on top but Spennymoor not going down without a fight. The game restarted and Gateshead continued the way they finished and were rewarded after 10 minutes with a second goal. It was Adam Campbell who cut in and curled the ball in to the top corner from a good 20 yards out. Spennymoor kept going at it but it wasn't coming and Gateshead defended very well and Spennymoor just couldn't put the ball in the net. The game finished 2-1 to Gateshead.

A massive win in Gateshead promotion bid and proving why they are where they are after grinding out the win despite lots of Spennymoor pressure. Gateshead are now 3 ahead of Brackley having played a game more. They are now 7 ahead of Kidderminster who have played 2 less. Spennymoor remain 15th with lots of games in hand and relegation 11 points away.
