Farsley Celtic cease Kiddy - Farsley Celtic 2-1 Kidderminster Harriers

Bottom of the league Farsley Celtic faced in form Kidderminster Harriers in a game that in theory was only going one way. Kidderminster have been emmence lately looking like a formidable force ripping through any team that faces them in their bid for the title. Farsley Celtic have been exactly the opposite lately and haven't won since 20th November 2021.

A very quiet start to the game as Farsley Celtic looked to find a way to contain the rampant Kiddy front line. Not much was between the two sides at all until the 23rd minute where an unexpected goal came. And to make it even more unexpected it was for Farsley Celtic. Jimmy Spencer scored after a great cross from William Hayhurst which Kiddy failed to clear and it fell to Jimmy Spencer who converted to give Farsley a golden lead. They were looking to hold on to this lead until half time and this almost worked. Kiddy went on one last attack in injury time of the first half and won a penalty. Confident striker Ashley Hemmings stepped up to take and scored his 11th of the season to cause problems for the home side. The first half finished 1-1. It was another quiet start to the half and not much changed. Another penalty was given though on the 66 minute mark after a Kiddy player handballed a cross in and a penalty was awarded. Willaim Hayhurst volunteered to take and he sent the goalkeeper the wrong way to give Farsley Celtic a 2-1 lead. Farsley set out to defend for the rest of the game and despite lots of Kiddy pressure. With 2 minutes to go Farsley went down to 10 men after a second yellow card for Chris Atkinson and was sent walking. This wasn't it for the red cards though after Jon Foules of Kidderminster was given his marching orders following a second yellow cards. Farsley Celtic ran out 2-1 winners.

This game was prime non-league showing that anything can happen. Kidderminster stay 3rd but drop 4 points away from Brackley Town. Gateshead are now 8 ahead of Kidderminster. This loss has proved to be incredibly damaging in their title charge. This is a massive Farsley Celtic win. They are still bottom in 22nd but now level on points with AFC Telford United and Farsley have played a game less.
