Eagles ease past Colney Heath - Bedford Town 3-0 Colney Heath

A big game for both sides. Bedford look to gain promotion up to the Southern Premier Division Central and a win today would be very helpful. Colney Heath are 19th and stuck inside the relegation zone looking done for. Going into the game Bedford had scored 77 goals in the league and Colney Heath had conceded 77.

The game started well for Bedford. A very feisty game with a few big challenges going in. Connor Tomlinson could have scored early on but Tiernan Parker denied him. Rene Howe got close but couldn't convert. Colney Heath didn't show much at all going forwards with only the occasional counter attack but they were always dealt with by the Bedford defence. Bedford looked very dangerous from set pieces. They got a free kick in a nice position on the right hand side. Will Summerfield whipped in a delightful ball which Lewis Miccio got on the end of easily heading past the goalkeeper. Charley Sanders thought he made it 2-0 but it was ruled out by the referee for handball. Bedford went in at half time 1-0 up. Bedford stayed very much the same and never looked like losing the game. Bedford were pushing and were finally rewarded after Connor Tomlinson tried to skip past a defender but was tripped and he won a penalty for the hosts. Rene Howe took and sent the goalkeeper the wrong way - he doesn't miss. Now Bedford were cruising to a big victory. Charley Sanders made it 3-0 after out-running the Colney Heath defender and smashing the ball into the bottom corner getting his 8th goal of the season. This was it for the game and Bedford won 3-0.

This means Bedford Town now go 4 points clear in 1st place. They took advantage of their game in hand over Berkhamsted and don't look like stopping any time soon. Colney Heath now look in even deeper trouble as they are 10 points off of 18th placed Kempston Rovers and 11 points of off Hertford Town.
