Bromley 1-3 Stockport County

Stockport went into the game top of the table needing a win to pull away from Chesterfield. Play-off hopefuls Bromley were the opponents on the day and felt as if taking points off Stockport was possible. Stockport have been on a cracking run as of late, keeping 8/9 clean sheets in their recent games. Bromley also have the second best home form in the league but on the other hand Stockport have the best away form in the league.

The game began with Stockport on top and Bromley had few chances but not many. Stockport really needed to dig in to this game as a draw could prove to be damaging. The second half began and both sides were in search of a goal. A goal finally came in the 64th minute and it for Stockport and Patrick Madden grabbed his 13th goal of the season. Southam-Hales had the ball and delivered a great cross to Madden who heads in past Mark Cousins to give County a deserved lead. This lead was doubled 6 minutes later when Scott Quigley who scored an absolute belter. He received the ball far out and strode forwards to the edge of the box and struck a peach into the top corner. Stockport sealed the deal in the 85th minute when Patrick Madden bagged his second with an impressive half-volley firing County ahead of Chesterfield. Bromley scored a mere consolation goal from defender Byron Webster with their first shot on target of the night.

Stockport now move 3 points clear of Chesterfield playing a game more. Dave Challinor could leading this strong Stockport County team back to the football league. Bromley remain firmly in the play-off spots but their title charge is probably off.
