Bedford travelled to Oxfordshire for a big game in the run in for the season. Bedford have been brilliant and unstoppable lately and are racing to the title. Wantage Town have been the exact opposite lately and look destined for the drop. It's a big game for both teams.
Straight from kick-off Bedford looked the better side and looked certain to open the scoring. Many chances came but none were converted until the 27th minute. This was when Bedford took the lead thanks to defender Rory McAuley scores from a corner after a very nice Danny Setchell ball which he got his head on and put it past the goalkeeper. It was soon 0-2 when Joe Butterworth doubled the away side's lead. A nice move lead to Rene Howe being played through and he dragged the goalkeeper out and this is where he put it on a plate for Joe Butterworth who converted. The third goal came on the brink of half time when a corner was whipped in and Wantage Town failed to clear the ball until it fell to Connor Tomlinson who made it 0-3. The first half finished 0-3 to Bedford. They came back out firing and it was 0-4 less than ten minutes into the second half. Lewis Miccio scored the 4th and it was yet again from a corner. A great ball was swung in and it eventually found Lewis Miccio's head and he headed home. The 5th also came from a corner after the corner was cleared and the ball found it's way to Will Summerfield who hit the ball back into the box where it found Connor Tomlinson who's deflected effort found the back of the net. The 6th goal also came from a corner it went short to Dan Walker who corssed in and it found Hugh Alban Jones who put it in for 0-6. The 7th and final goal of the came and to my surprise it wasn't from a corner. Max Bustamente scored after Craig Mackail Smith was clean through and he opted to square it to Max Bustamente who scored on his Eagles debut. The game finished 0-7.
Looking back at the game proves how lethal Bedford can be against a weak defence after they put 7 past Wantage away from home today. Corners had a massive impact on the game as I believe 5/7 came from a corner. Bedford remain top despite a Berkhamsted win and Wantage stay bottom.
